PA.c Launcher 2.2.9 Translations

The PortableApps.com Launcher (used to create the AppNamePortable.exe launchers that handle app portability) uses .nsh translation files for localization. These nsh files are contained within the PortableApps.comLauncher\Other\Source\Languages directory when you have the PortableApps.com Launcher installed. They are also available for direct download.

Some strings are machine translated and should be reviewed. The English.nsh translation is the base from which other languages should be translated.

The next stable release of the PortableApps.com Platform will support showing the intro message and source code offering and license in the language the user selects the during installation. So, I'd like to get translations of it into as many supported languages as we can.

PA.c Installer 3.8.15 and Platform Installer 30.0 Translations

The PortableApps.com Installer (used for individual .paf.exe installers) and the PortableApps.com Platform installer share the same strings for translation. These are a little different than the .locale files included with the platform as they can't be translated and then tested directly by translators. Nor can they use the iniTranslator Portable utility to handle translations.

A zip file with the current strings for English and all other languages can be downloaded here: languages-2024-05-08.zip. These are the same translations included with the current PA.c Installer 3.8.15. You can also see these strings in action with the current PortableApps.com Platform's installer.

You can use the current Google Chrome Portable release to test out other strings including downloading. This way you can see the strings used by the PA.c app installer that aren't used by the platform installer like downloading messages.

Look at the English.nsh as your guide and copy in the missing section to the language you are updating. Switch the ${LANG_ENGLISH} string on each line to the one for your language.

The following locales don't have reliable machine translation available and will show English for the newer parts of cloud installers and the PA.c Platform installer: Breton, Cibemba

The following locales do not have any translations for the PortableApps.com-specific strings: Asturian, Efik

PA.c Platform 30.0 Translations

For any updates to translations or issues with the translations in the current PortableApps.com Platform stable release (beta release if there is one, stable if not), please post finalized versions here once they have been discussed with other speakers.

Translations are located within the PortableApps\PortableApps.com\App\locale directory and are text files in simple INI format. The English.locale file has the official strings for the default language and can be used as a guide for your own language. We recommend you edit them using IniTranslator Portable since it can highlight translations present in English (the default) but missing in your locale. Any of the text editors in our Portable App Directory - Development Section will also work. Be sure to save them in UCS2-LE (Little Endian) format with Windows (CrLf) line feeds.

Finalized versions can be posted directly in your comment between PRE tags or posted on PasteBin.com and linked from your comment. If you find any strings that don't properly load in the platform, please note it on the bug reports page. Thanks!

If you're having trouble with that, just post a comment here and we'll add you then remove your comment.

Please base updated translations on the PortableApps.com Platform 30.0 translations, not older betas or stable releases. All translations that were present and have been deleted are included in 30.0.

Please do not alter any of the Locale strings in the first section. It will break language switching for your locale. If you feel one of them is incorrect, please make a post to discuss it. See apps like GIMP for examples of Localeglibc.

PA.c Backup - Restore localization

I would like to update the `PortableApps.com Backup` and `PortableApps.com Backup - Restore` localizations, but there are no files for that. I think it is better to add the strings to the *.locale files like the strings for the `PortableApps.com Updater` - they are part of it.

Advice on Portuguese Localization(s)

There is no real reason to maintain two versions of Portuguese
- Portuguese (Portugal)
- Portuguese (Brazil)
thruout either the PortableApps.com platform or any of the portable Apps.

As of January, 2016 both forms are equally normalized orthographies between
- Portugal
- Brazil
- Cape Verde
and more Portuguese speaking countries.

Truncated text in backup window

I just used the backup function again after a long time and found the text being cut off in german (seen here). Maybe this is due to Win 10 (or me) using other scaling settings. The text is displayed as tooltip when I hover over it, but this is not obvious to all users.

Is it possible to add automatic word wrap or maybe a defined line break? I could try some other phrasing, but that would alter the meaning a little bit (something like "Don't close the output window or the prozess will be terminated").

YOU have no IDEA of what your APPS have made possible for me

I have a brain injury and remembering things is sometimes a problem for me I have used your APPS on and off for awhile now after my injury i could no longer work so i started learning how to put computers together I live on my SSI checks so most of the stuff i have was picked up on the curb it took me awhile to be able to buy parts for my own build but i was able to make a pretty good computer. Every time I had a problem with my scrap curb
computers i could usually find what I need to fix the problem I could find in your software. the only reason i have not Donated before is because i live on a fixed income but I think I will have to give something back so when I get paid this next month I will give something it may not be much But I Believe in what yall are doing and thank you!!!!
