The off topic forum is for postings that are probably of interest to the community, but not directly related to portable apps. As suggested, topics like asking for CMS suggestions, Windows themes and things like that can be posted here. It's not a free for all for posting anything and everything.

If your post is suggesting a service or product and linking to it, it probably doesn't belong here.

Note: Posts in the Off Topic Forum will not appear in the Recent Posts tracker.

Hello everybody, both new and old!

I come back to the community after checks calender 13 years? Yup 13 years since I was last active, but I plan on making a small bit of a comeback after a lot of things happened with my life.

But during that time, dealt with some hardships, but due to that, I've also become a little wiser, worked on a few projects here and there. Hell, I've been a distro maintainer for a Linux project for a couple of years.

But I am slowly making a come back to my roots, but with just one project, it's a fork of coolplayer, I've named it BriskPlayer, contains some of my modifications, both in audio output and media support. Basically added support for Native FLAC files instead of using the winamp plugin that is currently bundled with coolplayer+ portable.

Anyways I plan on getting a little more active. I suppose this week and next will my the most time I can devote the most time since it's my current vacation.

I do hope to get to know some of you new ones here and reconnecting with some old friends on the team.

try to resolve portable issues by smartphone

hi all,
as we have only to do or note apps (no calendar) and i would meanwhile favourize a smartphone, asking here for help/advise.
i'm looking for a cheap/(used) outdoor smartphone with windows or blackberry, no apple or android.
i think windows or windows phone would be the solution.
i think one can now use windows 11 on any phone?

hi webmaster,
please activate the dark mode/theme to select.
need for eye health, consistency and environment!
can't find where to activate and not possible to force it.
it's far more readable and pleasent for the eyes!
and would be consistent for all my designs!
other sites/blogs stays only the header pic.

P.S.: The prior mentioned sidebar not so important!

Problems with the forum

Seems thast the navigation of my account is spining, the navigation menu seems not to work. Hope it gets good soon.
Edit: Seems that some parts of the forums path on top left, the first two links don't work also.
Edit: No idea how but I could fix it by making some different ratherb random actions. So at the end I don't know what helped. Maybe something needed to update or renew. One never will know. Anyway. It works again and that's the most important.

Setup auto run Pyspark notebook from Alteryx

Scoop.sh a viable alternative?

I've loved portableapps.com and used it for many years. I've recently been introduced to scoop.sh and have been loving that as well.

Honestly, especially after installing the ASuite program launcher, I've been preferring scoop, but I'm still inexperienced with it.

Are there any other scoop users here? If you find an app that is on both platforms, which do you choose? What are your insights to how the two platforms compare to each other, and how do you balance them?
