[Fixed] Audacity 3.7.6/7 installation fails in PA.c Platform

For the last few days I've gotten this error when installing Audacity Portable via the "Get More Apps" menu option:

"The downloaded copy of Audacity is not valid and can not be installed. This could be due to an incomplete download or other network issue. Please try running the updater again when complete."

Is there an issue with the app? If not, is there a workaround that I can use to get Audacity working again?

VLC 64 bit

I'd like to use VLC portable with Subtitle Edit but it must be the 64bit version. Apparently the one here is 32bit and I'm not seeing a 64bit portable version on the VLC website. Any suggestions? TIA

[Fixed] fb2kPortable not preserving encoders on upgrade

The official encoder pack installs to foobar2000\encoders; amending installer.ini with

PreserveDirectory3=App\foobar2000\encoders

would make user installed encoders persist fb2kPortable upgrades.

Also, foobar2000\components are foobar2000 shipped component dlls, that are rebuilt with every release and should probably not be preserved; user components as of v2.x reside in profile\user-components{,-x64}.

Finally, as more of a feature request, could fb2kPortable online installer include both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, like ccPortable for example? User components are architecture-specific, not sure about the config in general.

VLC Portable 2.x

Hi,

Is there a copy of VLC Portable 2.x available? VLC has a nice feature that can play two video streams in two windows synchronously - this comes in handy for presentations that include both a slide show feed and a presenter feed. The problem is that this feature has been broken throughout the entire VLC 3.x series. (The problem has nothing to do with the portable apps - it is also broken for the official videolan.org images).

J'utilise très régulièrement AIMP, cet excellent lecteur musique
Or je viens de découvrir qu'un grand nombre de données se retrouve dans %APPDATA%\AIMP , ce qui ne rend pas vraiment l'application portable à 100%
Pouvez vous corriger ce bug ?

can't get MPC-HC to launch a playlist in fullscreen after updating to latest version of the app

I have a pen drive that I set up many years ago with some movie files on it and I added MPC-HC Portable and VLC Portable to the drive. I created playlist files for the movies and then setup bat files to launch the playlists.

I tested the batch files for both MPC-HC and VLC back when I set up the drive and both worked to launch the respective player and start the playlist in fullscreen mode and have worked fine ever since. yesterday I decided to download the latest versions of both players from the portableapps website and now the bat file for MPC-HC won't launch in fullscreen mode any longer. the bat file for VLC still works fine.

the version of MPC-HC installed is:
Build information:
Version: 2.2.1 (30fc3853b)
Build date: Apr 10 2024

and the contents of the batch file is:
start \MPC-HCPortable\MPC-HCPortable.exe /play "\MPC-HCPortable\playlist.mpcpl" /fullscreen

any ideas why this isn't working any longer? the playlist still works fine, its just launching the player in fullscreen mode that isn't working. unfortunately I don't remember which version I had installed before updating.

EDIT:
I just checked the creation date on the playlist files and they are from early 2018 so the previous version of MPC-HC was from around that time.

EDIT 2:
some things I already tried are:
removing the quotes from around the path to the playlist file - playlist still works but won't launch into fullscreen
moving the /fullscreen switch to be before the /play switch - playlist still works but still won't launch into fullscreen

Audacity 3.6 Frequently Crashing

I'm fairly sure this is a problem with Audacity itself and not specifically the portable version, but I thought I'd mention it here anyway to see if others are having the same issue or if perhaps it's just me.

The problem is that, since updating to version 3.6, Audacity is frequently crashing. For me this occurs when I try to close a project or close the application itself. A crash report is generated and appears in a new window but the 'Send report' function doesn't work. The crash doesn't happen every time but has been happening so often as to make the program unusable. After each crash, all preference settings revert to default which is also quite annoying.

The problem is not completely new to v3.6 - I was getting occasional crashes with version 3.5.x also. In any case, I've gone back to v3.5.1 for the time being.

Is anyone else seeing this problem?

VLC Player - Cannot Remove Splash Screen

I cannot remove the splash screen on the VLC player.

I have tried the instructions on the link below and have copied the file to the main folder where the VLC executable file is located and it still doesn't work.

I suppose it is a splash screen.
When the program opens It says

Media VLC Player Portable
PortableAppscom / go/ VLCPortable

It disappears after a few seconds, and normally this would not annoy me, but it does in this case because it is superimposed on the video I am playing.

Who knows how to disable this? I'm guessing it is in an .ini file, but I wasn't able to find anything that I could identify as related to this.

Respectable Forum I am Gaetani Giancarlo and I want to signal a problem:

Trying to update the portableapp I have a problem in downloading the installer of QMMP because the computer tells me that it is impossible to reach the server in which is located this app. This error happens only for this app while the others have installed correctly. Not knowing the reason of this mistake I would like to know if there is another way to download the installer of this program.
