Older portable versions of Faststone graphics viewer?

Does anyone have the files for Faststone Graphics viewer, from the 6.x or 5.x series? I suppose even the 4.x would be ok too.

I like to have multiple instances of Faststone running on my laptop at the same time, and I have found that when I try to open up two from the same version number (such as 7.9 and 7.5 at the same time), the second one I click on doesn't work (it doesn't open up a new instance of faststone). I currently have on my thumb drive 8.1 and 7.9. I would like one from the 6.x series, and also if available, at least one from the 5.x or 4.x series as well.

Alternately, if this activity is a bug, and say, 7.9 and 7.5 should be up and running at the same time, I'm more than willing to troubleshoot this.

Just downlaoded the latest portable version again for testing before posting this.

I was trying to use Batcher, a python written addon, updated for GIMP 3 already. And installing it won't show up in the portable version but will show up in the installed version. Tried couple times.
I looked up the plug-in browser of each version and screenshoted each but can't upload here, sadly.
When typed "Python" into the search box of said browser, only "Python dictionary" showed up in the portable version.
But in the installed version, I will also get "Plug-in example in Python 3" & "Python Console". Does that matter?

And mostly importantly, how do I "install" it?

And will that be added in later releases?

[Fixed] ExifToolGUI resets its UI's language to English on 64-bit systems

ExifToolGUI resets its UI’s language to 'English US', even if the platform is correctly configured and/or the ExifToolGUIPortableSettings.ini file is edited.

Windows 7 x64. Fresh & upgraded installations. Run via the Platform or not.

How to reproduce:

Install your app on a 64-bit system (tested on Win 7).
Uncheck the 'Include 32-bit Support' checkbox.
Run the app (Language of the platform/app must be different from ENG US).

How to bypass the bug:

Install both of the 32-bit & 64-bit versions.

Wrong Category: On the platform, the app belongs to the Utilities.

Krita completely wipes out all of my brushes, settings, plugins

I've already enabled "close apps on windows exit" setting but it still happened, this has happened for 5 times now. I think it's caused by opening two krita instances as well as shutting down while Krita is open..

Either way, I think this is a horrible way to setup the user settings for Krita. Why just do a factory reset of all of my settings when things aren't shut down properly? This hasn't happened with the other apps I've used, Telegram for example, keeps me logged in still on the app even though I've seen it say "it did not close properly last time", isn't it supposed to clean my user settings then? Why just Krita? Granted, I've seen the "not closed properly" dialog box a few times for Krita but it still kept my settings, but again, sometimes it doesn't and wipes everything. This is a very frustrating bug (or feature) as I have to manually import all of my settings, keyboard shortcuts, and BRUSHES every time this happens.

For now I'll just stick to the normal installation instead of a portable one, this is just too inconsistent.

[Fixed] Nik plugin not working in GIMP 3.0.4

I recently downloaded the portable version of GIMP 3.0.4. I haven't tested it extensively, but have noticed that Nik Plugins don't work. I use the python script found at https://github.com/iiey/nikgimp/blob/main/nikplugin.py.

I put this file in its own folder, nikplugin, in the plugin folder D:\PortableApps\GIMPPortable\App\gimp\references\plug-ins. However, this plugin is not detected by 4.0.4 whereas the G\MIC plugin in the same directory is detected. This plugin works without any problem in the installed version as well as the portable version downloaded from https://samjcreations-blogspot-com.translate.goog/?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_t....

I am using the last freeware version of the Nik plugin, Google Nik Collection 1.2.11, downloaded from https://www.techspot.com/downloads/6809-google-nik-collection.html

BTW, this plugin worked without any problem on the 2.10.x versions downloaded from PortableApps.

Has anybody else faced this problem? Is there something I need to do differently for the 3.0.4 version downloaded from PortableApps?

Would appreciate any help to solve this problem.

[Closed] XnConvert 1.102.0 64-bit can't find Ghostscript

When trying to launch xnconvert to convert PDF to png, xnconvert needs to use Ghostscript. However, using the PortableApps version of both apps on the same drive, xnconvert doesn't seem to find Ghostscript. A trace with Process Monitor shows...
PATH NOT FOUND
C:\Program Files (x86)\bitfarm-Archiv\gs10.04.0\bin\gsdll64.dll

For some reason it keeps trying to get gsdll64.dll in the above directory, instead of %PAL:PortableAppsDir%\CommonFiles\Ghostscript\App\

Is this a bug in the PortableApps implementation or a bug in xnconvert?

I've tried to adjust the launcher ini file to the following and it doesn't work:

I also tried installing Ghostscript on the host computer, and then it works. It references the correct dll in C:\Program Files\gs\gs10.05.1\bin

But I would ideally like it to run completely on the portable version of Ghostscript, so that the drive is computer independent.

Paint.net Protable - Where to put plugins?

Hi, thanks for all your work on this and the whole platform.

One thing I often have trouble with is that when apps have the ability to add plugins, there's no info on how or where to install them. I think this info should be added to the apps download page.

Where exactly do I put all my Paint.net plugins folders "Effects" and "FileTypes"? I've tried everywhere within the root and all created sub-folders of "Data" but nothing works. Are plugins even supported?

NAPS2 7.5.3 - OCR error

Win10Pro 22H2 64-bit; NET (full & client) 4.8.09037; PAC 30.0.2; '64-Bit Only' = Auto; 'Include 32-Bit Support' = Auto.
'English' selected as ocr language and downloaded.

Whether or not ocr is conducted pre-emptively I always see a File Not Found error for a temporary .hocr file when ocr attempted.

Example filename: D:\PortableApps\NAPS2Portable\App\NAPS2\Data\temp\oj2ozgxl.blc.hocr so not extravagantly deep.

That 'temp' directory exists when NAPS2 is running but contains only a .jpg file when ocr is attempted.

I have at some time run v6.1.2 (portable) on this machine without any such problem.

A clue would be appreciated as I obviously don't have one.

[Fixed] Future date listed in "Updated" column for VLC App

The VLC app lists an "updated" date of 2025-06-016 in the New Portable Apps install Dialog window. Current date is Feb 2025

All the other apps in the list show past dates in the column. I was attempting to install new apps based on Apps "recently updated".

Slow performance in GIMP 2.10.38 portable version

in install version, it only take 2 minutes to output whole year
but in GIMP 2.10.38 portable version, it take nearly 5 minutes

XnView classic doesn't save any customizations

Last version 2.51.7 Aug 26 2024 on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit

It doesn't save any customizations, such as language or additional buttons on the toolbar, it applies them but when you next restart the program they return to default

Any ideas?

Paint.Net portable will run on 32 bit Windows 7 or not?

On your Paint.Net download page, it says that Paint.Net 5.0.13 requires Windows x64.

However in the system requirements section, it suggests that it will work with Windows 7 (with platform update).

System Requirements: Windows 10, 11 (64-bit Only)
(Windows 7 [with Platform Update], 8.1, 10 (32-bit): 4.3.12)
App License: Freeware (Personal and Business Use)

Does this mean that a 32 bit computer running 32 bit Window 7 Pro will run this program if I install the Platform Update? Or am I misunderstanding this?

ExifToolGUIPortable not passing parameters

[Fixed] XnView MP some settings not moved

Hi, i'm testing PortableApps.com Platform for the first time and found something weird with XnView MP.

It looks like the portableapps edition only looks for

Thumb.db
XnView.db
xnview.ini

These files are getting moved between \XnViewMPPortable\Data and \XnViewMPPortable\App\XnViewMP64 when the application starts

But when you make more changes to XnView MP there are 3 more files where settings are saved

bookmark.ini
default.keys
default.bar

I pasted all 6 files in \XnViewMPPortable\Data and started XnView MP and only the first 3 are moved and loaded.
I have to manually paste these files in \XnViewMPPortable\App\XnViewMP64 to use them.
But i read no user files should be pasted in the App folder because it gets deleted after an update.
When i make changes that for example are saved in bookmark.ini and close the app, the file is not moved to \XnViewMPPortable\Data and remains in the App folder.
Is it possible to include these 3 files please?

Edit: After spending some time i found the Launcher .ini file and was able to add these files under [FilesMove].
Everything works now.
But doesn't this file gets overwritten after an update because it is saved in the App folder?
