I can't get started, no e-mails

I have installed thunderbird portable and I have filled in the boxs to send/recieve e-mail. I recieve the error message "Failed to connect to sever popmail.yahoo.co.uk", could any one advise me what to do. Many Thanks

Proxy?

It's possible there's a proxy setup where you are trying to connect. Or they could be blocking connections to POP/SMTP servers. If they are, you can probably still connect with the Webmail extension:
http://webmail.mozdev.org/
